Billy Creek Watershed Project

The Town of Pinetop-Lakeside recently received a grant from ADEQ.  As part of this grant we are working towards understanding how our surface water and groundwater interacts (do our streams recharge our aquifers or do our aquifers recharge or streams, or both).  We will be monitoring water quality in our springs, streams and shallow aquifer.  In order to do this we need your help!  If you have a shallow well within the Billy Creek Watershed, we would like to take quarterly water level measurements and/or water quality samples.  This not only benefits the work being done for this grant, but it benefits you.  By knowing what your water level is and tracking it quarterly throughout the year, you will know how water levels change during the seasons and how pumping impacts the aquifer you depend on.  It may also act as an early alert system if the water level is getting too close to your pump.  Basic water chemistry can help you determine if you need any type of treatment on your well and if so what is appropriate.

Additionally if you have a spring or stream running through your property and you would like that monitored, please reach out!
